Surfers Paradise on Australia’s Gold Coast is as good a place as any to learn to surf, if not the perfect place in Queensland.
The 70 km of beaches along the Gold Coast are crowded everyday with boardies. And if you look on the river and inlets, you’ll find stand-up paddle boarders, too.
If you ever wanted to give surfing a go, why not contact a coach and get in the water. Brad Holmes, a local champion and surfing coach, is a unique teacher; he incorporates Tai Chi as a warm up before you get on the board. He has experience working at many beaches, including home base at Broadbeach Surf Club, and Budd’s Beach for the SUP lessons.
GaySurfersNet is a non-profit site for the gay surfing community, emanating from Europe, with 92 members in Australia, and 42 women worldwide. The upcoming Coast Out event is highlighted on the group page.
The first ever gay & gay friendly surf event in Australia will be held on Sunday 31 October 2010 in Coffs Harbour, NSW.
