The Fiji Islands consist of 330 islands spread over 7,000 square kilometers, Taveuni being the third largest, known as the Garden Island because of the luxurious plant growth due to rich volcanic soil. Paradise Taveuni is found on the flat south end behind the mountains protected from the wind, ensuring calm, clear waters year round. This property is located some forty kilometers from the Matei Airport and a scenic one hour drive through rainforest and coconut plantations will put you in this unique Fiji Island Resort. Perfectly positioned on five acres of oceanfront land with deep-water frontage and an extinct volcano behind—900 metres high—as a dramatic background, this luxurious resort was rebuilt in 2006/07.
Previously trading as Susies Plantation Resort for over twenty years, reconstruction of the property began in 2006 when the new owners, Allan & Terri Gortan, purchased the secluded, oceanfront Fijian paradise. The resort renovations and upgrades are now completed with ten traditional Fijian Bures, a new restaurant and bar, tour desk, Pro Dive Taveuni on site, gift shop, and oceanfront Wedding Bure. Recently the Oceanfront Reef Room has been the newest addition to the Resort, giving the Resort ten bures and one room, accommodating a total 22 – 33 guests.
The new horizon edge swimming pool offers a refreshing alternative to the crystal waters of Paradise and Pro Dive Taveuni is available upon request for diving from the Full Service dive shop.
Owners Allan and Terri believe in offering their guests a large selection of adventures and activities, ranging from horse riding, kayaking, snorkelling, swimming, jet skiing, hiking, guided tours, waterfall trips, rainforest tours, to relaxing spa services plus plenty of hammocks and poolside deck chairs to choose from.
The Resort’s maximum capacity is thirt-three guests, ensuring visitors enjoy a secluded and personalised stay in Paradise. The Resort caters to couples, single travellers, families, and small boutique groups. Paradise Taveuni has 24 hour generator power and a steady water source from a community supply. This is a romanatic, remote, and secluded getaway with the nearest facilities thirty minutes drive north.
It’s not just the beauty of the island, stunningly appointed new bures and facilities, sensational diving and a multitude of adventures, it’s also about getting to know the people of Paradise. You are greeted like a much loved relative not seen for a while, with genuine big smiles, open hearts, and warmth.
Paradise Taveuni offers only ten elegantly appointed Bures and four new Vale’s. There are five Oceanfront Bures and five Tropical Bures each with a luxurious Jacuzzi, all located only a stones throw from the oceanfront cliff edge. The four Oceanfront air conditioned Vale Lomani (Beautiful room) are a recent addition to Paradise. All Bures and Vales have both indoor bathrooms and outdoor shower and Jacuzzi in a private tropical garden, a generous king bed and sun deck for Fiji relaxing time. Cool tiles are used throughout and you will find high arching thatched roofs and two ceilings fans. The method of traditional thatching married with the wood louvres keeps the air flowing throughout the bure, making it naturally cool.
Each Bure and Vale has been built with eco-friendly consideration, using local timbers, mostly from fallen coconuts trees from the nearby plantation. They have been designed with ultimate comfort, allowing two to three adults or two adults and two children, to enjoy a unique Fijian holiday.
If the gorgeous horizon edge swimming pool doesn’t tempt you, there are many activities to try. Spectacular snorkeling is available from the resort’s private marina, as well as kayaking and safe ocean swimming. Pro Dive Taveuni, the best place to scuba dive in Fiji, offers ‘luxury diving’. Full service Pro Dive Taveuni takes care of all the little details and allows you to dive stress-free. Guided tours of Taveuni, hiking, bird watching, village visits, waterfall trips, beach drop-offs, and fishing are just a few adventures offered.
Allan and Terri Gortan are the owners of Paradise Taveuni. Purchasing the freehold five acre property in April 2006, Allan and Terri have been on site owner/operators year round. Allan is a Chef by trade and Terri has always worked in the hospitality industry. Moving to Fiji in 2000 to live and work, they adopted their two children Jessica and Thomas from Suva in 2004 and 2005, they soon purchased the tropical five acre property that is now Paradise. With Paradise Taveuni completed and all facilities and new bures now upgraded, Al and Terri concentrate their combined roles on the Resort operations, guest services and promoting the Resort to the international market.
Relaxation in Paradise Taveuni is unavoidable with the Paradise Spa offering a selection of treatments to allow you to relax, rehydrate, and rejuvenate your body and your soul. For centuries, Fijian islanders have used pure coconut oil and flowe extracts to nourish, moisturise, and beautify skin and hair. All Spa treatments include Pure Fiji brand products, blended with essential oils and fragrances plus virgin coconut oil.
So whether you just want to relax or enjoy an outdoor adventure in Fiji, Paradise Taveuni is the perfect get-away.
