The Bay of Plenty’s main centre is Tauranga, with the coastal suburbs of Mount Maunganui and Papamoa been very popular with visitors.

The township of Te Puke is in the heart of the kiwifruit industry with other towns been the art-loving town of Katikati, the quiet coastal village of Waihi Beach, the historic Maketu and the tourist activity centre of Paengaroa.

The area is well known for good white-water rafting, kayaking, dolphin encounters, parasailing and jetboating. There’s also skydiving, scenic flights, blokarting (a locally-invented land sailor), horse treks, cultural experiences, golf courses and a variety of gardens and museums to peruse.
